Convert DVD to AVI/MPEG4 Using Xilisoft
DVD Ripper
|
|

First of all, you need to select your DVD movie. You can
select between 3 different sources, DVD (1) is for loading
a DVD disc you have in your drive (what else could it be?).
vob (2) loads individual mpg/vob files. Finally ifo (3) loads
the VIDEO_TS.IFO file of DVD files you may have already in
your hard disk. I am going to load a DVD in this example,
so I click on DVD and then select the VIDEO_TS folder of the
DVD I have in my drive.

First, you need to select the output format(1),Then you should
click the "setting" Button and select "Input
Setting"to the next window(2).

In this window, you need to config the input setting.
Output frame rate(1):
Frame rate of the output video file. 25 (PAL) or 23.97,
29.97 (NTSC).
Warning: this value is not automatically set. If you choose
a different frame rate from the actual input rate, a conversion
will be performed to obtain the selected output frame rate;
but you should avoid converting NTSC to PAL, or PAL to NTSC
.
Default is : 29.97 (NTSC)
Subtitle Offset(2):
Vertical offset of the subtitle expressed in pixels.
This value is automatically adjusted if the subtitle extends
beyond the screen.
Default is : 0
DeCss(3):
Leave the DeCSS settings as you can see in the picture above
(3). Note that if you have problems loading some DVDs, you
can try playing back the disc in your DVD playback software
for 30secs and then try to load it in again.
Audio(4):
Leave everything as you see here, just note that you
can raise the Volume to something like 5 or 10 if it sounds
too low.
Save your DVD drive(5):
Create a temporary buffer to avoid having the DVD drive being
switched on/off too frequently.
If you use a RAM buffer you can also disable virtual memory
to obtain an even faster ripping speed. The file will be written
in your Windows temporary directory (TMP environment variable).
Default is : 10MB, Location: RAM
Adjusts the brightness level(6):
The Y plane is the luminance plane (in YUV format). Applies
the formula: Gain*Y + Offset on the Y plane. Gain is an 8.8
fixed point value. (0 = 0.0 ; 128 = 1.0 ; 256 = 2.0 ). Therefore,
(using an offset value of 0) a luminance filter value of 128
does not change the brightness level; whereas a value of 256
will double the brightness level. A value less than 128 darkens
the movie.
Default is : Not enabled, (equivalent to Filter value: 128,
Offset: 0).
Misc(7):
select the right iDCT depending on your CPU type. If you have
any synchronisation problems then select "Audio/Video
synchronisation". Note that you can tell Xilisoft DVD
Ripper to shutdown the PC after the encoding, so it's a good
idea to let it work while you sleep. Last but not least the
deinterlace filter. Set it to none, but if you see that your
movie has horizontal lines (you can notice that even in the
preview window) then change the setting to Interpolate.
Now, you can click the ok to the main interface and select
the "Output Setting" to the follow window(2).

First, you should select the codec to use in the output file(1),
I select the Divx in there. Next thing you need to take care
of is the Export Settings . Set the resolution to 352x288
for PAL VCD, 352x240 for NTSC DVD and 480x576 for PAL SVCD,
480x480 for NTSC SVCD.Select Bilinear for Resize playing attention
that you make the right choice for your CPU(2). Finally click
the ok to the main interface.
|
|

Before converting,
you should make sure the movie you want to convert(1) and
select the Output Folder(2). After do that, you can click
to start encoding.
|
|

The end! Just wait for a short time depending on the movie's
length and your PC's speed. Then you will have a mpeg4 movie.
