--How
to convert all video formats to DVD using WinAVI
|
I recently tried WinAVI and I can
say that I was impressed!I have admit that I did not trusted
small conversion programs, but WinAVI is really a good one.
It's main advantages are:
- it is very fast! In my computer (2.6GHz) all the conversions
where done between 30 and 55 minutes, depending on the movie
lenght. It's probably the one of the faster converters out there.
- it converts to DVD files and not MPEG file. Forget searching
for an authoring program and spending another hour to create
the DVD files, WinAVI converts directly to DVD files.
- includes a writing tool. You don't need to have another burning
tool to burn your DVDs.
All these in a pretty nice price. Download a free
full working trial here. You can buy
a WinAVI serial here. |

This is the first screen of WinAVI Video Converter. As you can
see there are many more conversions you can do except converting
to DVD. We will have a look at them in another guide. For this
guide, click the button the yellow arrow shows! |

Now you need to select the file you want to convert to DVD.
I am using a DivX file for this guide, keep in mind that you
can convert all video formats as long as you have the right
codecs installed. If you have trouble, email
to us and we'll be happy to help you! Select the file (1)
and click Open (2) to proceed. |

OK here select the output directory (1) which is where you want
WinAVI to put the files into. Then make sure DVD is selected
as the output format and then click Advanced (2). |

In the first tab select the right frame rate (1) Auto usually
works, but you can set it manually. 25 is for PAL, 29,97 for
NTSC. Also select the format (2) and the aspect ratio (3) based
in the source movie. Now click the Output tab. |

Here you set the output size. Just select 1 disc of 4.3GB (1)
to create a standard DVD disc. After you're done with the settings
select OK (2). You'll return in the window in step 3. Click
OK there once again to start the converting proccess. |

This window will be the next you'll see. You can open the preview
window to see what is being encoded, but that will make the
program to do more time, so I suggest you don't open it. Also
you can select to shut down the computer when the conversion
is finished if you want. After this step the conversion process
is over. You can now burn the DVD files that are already created
with your favourite DVD burning program, as the need no authoring.
In the next steps I am going to show how to burn the disc using
WinAVI. |

Again in the WinAVI main menu. Follow the yellow arrow to open
the DVD burning tool. |

As you can see in the picture, click the Add movie(s) button
and select DVD movie. |

Select the folder that contains the files you created with WinAVI
in the steps before and click OK. |

Now just select your burner, the speed and set the parameters
as you see them here (1). Then click Burn (2) and you're done!
As you see WinAVI is very simple, while it's fast and powerful.
We created a DVD Video disc from a DivX file in only 10 steps
and by using only one program. Download a free
full working trial here. You can get
a WinAVI serial here.
